I guess I should talk a bit about why I'm learning Japanese. It's odd but, a few years ago, I began to do Olympic weightlifting on an amateur level, and became a fan of the Japanese weightlifting team (as well as other teams). For some reason I can't remember, this led me towards 80's and 90's Japanese pop music, and I got addicted. I figured if I liked it so much, I should take advantage of the nice school learning environment to learn it. Oh, and I like the cuisine I guess. Kind of a normal thing at this point, but I guess I'll make that clear. So far, I actually enjoy the learning the language. Although I'm ethnically Chinese, I haven't formally learned any Asiatic languages before, so it's been fun experiencing something new. I think that's also the reason why I've been having problems memorizing hiragana and katakana, but I feel like I'm improving over time. I'm looking forward to being able to speak somewhat fluently eventually...
